I recently stumbled upon the Bbar blog, the Well, and saw that they were starting an interesting series called BBar Blog Linkup. Each person participating writes a blog post responding to a specific question and then links to everyone else’s posts on the topic.
This month’s Bbar Linkup was about one of my favorite topics, Instagram! The question was one that I could easily answer without hesitation: Who are your three favorite instagrammers and why?
A recent favorite is the Instagram feed of California based graphic designer Jaymee Harney. Her instagram collection consists of beautifully composed still life, fun portraits, and California seascapes that make me want to pick up and move to the west coast. Full disclosure…I might be biased because I wish I lived in California, and of course her sunny images are even more appealing in the dead of winter. There is also something authentic and personal about her feed, which I feel is very difficult for a lot of well curated instagram feeds to pull off, but she makes it seem effortless.
My admiration for the work of photographer, Bonnie Tsang, pre-dates both Instagram and Pinterest. I’ve followed along her photography career and watched her emerge as this social media pioneer and influencer just when all these other social media platforms were being introduced. And Bonnie just killed it with every single social media platform out there. Part of the allure of her instagram feed is seeing what she’s going to do next since she’s always been an early adopter. Her instagram gives us a peek into what projects she might be working on, who she’s working on them with, what’s on her plate (which is almost always something delicious) and what’s on her desk (these offbeat still life images are usually my favorites).
I started following James Kicinski-McCoy’s blog, Bleubird, around 7 years ago. She blogs about her family life among other things, but I’ve always been drawn in by her blog’s photography. Her instagram images which are clean, pure, and honest give continuity to what we already see on her blog. I also love her personal style and taste in home decor which there is alot of on her instagram feed. Since 2008 her blog and instagram have grown in readership, follows, and sponsorships. It is always really interesting to watch someone you’ve been following for so long succeed creatively, yet still maintain such authenticity and honesty about the content she puts out.
Now that I’ve shared my 3 favorite instagrammers and why I follow them, I’m looking forward to seeing what my fellow Bblog linkup participants posted! Check them out below! -xo, CM
